This month we will be focusing on Embracing Resiliency.
The definition of resiliency according to google, is ” the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.” or ” the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity.”
Google goes on to say “psychological resilience is the ability to mentally or emotionally cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly.”
Working in suicide prevention, community wellness, school or youth programming we hear this word a lot, how children and youth should be resilient; bounce back , get up a seventh time after falling down in the dirt. But something that we are seeing and learning every day, is that it is very difficult to continually be resilient alone, without support.
Support, love and kindness is one of the factors that helps us as individuals be resilient; we have people around us that give us a helping hand when we fall or support us when we make a mistake so its easier to get up and grow and move on.
This month Embracing Life challenges you in your community to be someone’s support! Encourage someone in your family to push themselves, ask for help when you need it and always remember to be kind as we never truly know what someone is going through.
